Custom Trophy Manufacturing for Sports Events

An association needed 2,000 identical trophies for a multi-sport event, each carrying its own logo. The order covered the whole run: mould, casting, plating, engraving and delivery.

What the Client Needed

A regional sports association was preparing awards for a multi-sport event. Every athlete on the podium would receive the same trophy, and the association wanted its logo cast into the piece rather than printed on a sticker added afterward.

Two things shaped the project. The quantity was large enough that any inconsistency would show on the podium, and the event calendar fixed the delivery date.

The Challenge

  • 2,000 pieces, one appearance. Plating colour, weight and engraving depth all had to match across the run.
  • A date that could not move. Awards had to arrive before the opening ceremony, so a partial shipment was not an option.
  • A fixed awards budget. The design had to look substantial without pushing the unit cost past what the order could carry.

How We Built Them

Zinc alloy die casting suited this order. The metal takes fine detail from the mould, holds a solid weight in the hand, and survives years of display. Each trophy passed through the same eight steps.

  1. Artwork review. We checked the association’s logo file for resolution and line weight, then adjusted details that would fill in during casting.
  2. 3D mock-up. The client approved a rendered model before anyone cut tooling.
  3. Mould making. A steel mould was cut for the trophy body.
  4. Die casting. Molten zinc alloy was injected into the mould to form the body in one piece.
  5. Polishing. Casting lines and surface marks came off by hand and by machine.
  6. Electroplating. The bodies were plated to the finish the event called for.
  7. Engraving and assembly. We engraved the logo and assembled each trophy.
  8. Inspection and packing. Every piece was counted, wrapped and packed for shipment.

Quality Control

We checked the run in stages. A plated sample from the first production batch went to the client for approval, and we held the balance of the order until they signed off. During production we checked plating adhesion, engraving depth and alignment, and the finished weight of each piece. Before packing, every trophy was inspected and the shipment counted against the order.

Result

  • 2,000 trophies delivered before the event.
  • Consistent plating and engraving across the full run.
  • The event ran with every award in place.

What to Send Us for a Quote

Four details let us price a trophy order accurately.

  • Your logo or artwork, ideally as a vector file such as AI, EPS, PDF or SVG.
  • Quantity, and whether it splits across several designs.
  • Size and finish direction, for example gold, silver, bronze or two-tone.
  • The date you need the trophies in hand.

Minimum order quantity depends on the trophy size and how the mould is built. Send your details and we will confirm what works for your design.

Questions Buyers Ask

Can you make several trophy designs in one order?

Yes. Each design needs its own mould, so tooling is charged per design. When the pieces share a size and plating, the unit cost stays close to a single-design run.

How long does production take?

Tooling, casting, plating and assembly all sit on the critical path, and engraving metal takes longer than printing. Timing depends on the design and the order size. Tell us your deadline and we will confirm whether we can meet it before you commit.

How is the logo applied?

This order used engraving. Depending on the design, we also cast raised relief or fill colour on top of the plating.

Will the plating wear off?

Electroplated zinc holds up well in normal display conditions. Trophies that get handled often or kept outdoors do better with a protective topcoat, which we can add.
